Facebook Acquired Instagram App For $1 Billion

Photo-sharing app “Instagram”, has just been acquired by Facebook for an enormous $1 billion price tag.

Instagram was started only 17 months ago, and has a total employee of 13 members.
It is absolutely amazing how an app could grow in such a rapid growth rate.

Here is the official announcement from Facebook:

I’m excited to share the news that we’ve agreed to acquire Instagram and that their talented team will be joining Facebook.

For years, we’ve focused on building the best experience for sharing photos with your friends and family. Now, we’ll be able to work even more closely with the Instagram team to also offer the best experiences for sharing beautiful mobile photos with people based on your interests.

We believe these are different experiences that complement each other. But in order to do this well, we need to be mindful about keeping and building on Instagram’s strengths and features rather than just trying to integrate everything into Facebook.

That’s why we’re committed to building and growing Instagram independently. Millions of people around the world love the Instagram app and the brand associated with it, and our goal is to help spread this app and brand to even more people.

We think the fact that Instagram is connected to other services beyond Facebook is an important part of the experience. We plan on keeping features like the ability to post to other social networks, the ability to not share your Instagrams on Facebook if you want, and the ability to have followers and follow people separately from your friends on Facebook.

These and many other features are important parts of the Instagram experience and we understand that. We will try to learn from Instagram’s experience to build similar features into our other products. At the same time, we will try to help Instagram continue to grow by using Facebook’s strong engineering team and infrastructure.

This is an important milestone for Facebook because it’s the first time we’ve ever acquired a product and company with so many users. We don’t plan on doing many more of these, if any at all. But providing the best photo sharing experience is one reason why so many people love Facebook and we knew it would be worth bringing these two companies together.

We’re looking forward to working with the Instagram team and to all of the great new experiences we’re going to be able to build together.

Let’s talk Google Project Glass (Project X) [Watch Video!]

Would this be a huge hit or huge miss for Google?

For the past few days, Google has drawn tons of attention from the media with the invention of Project Glass (which was also known as Project X). They are augmented reality glasses, which basically transforms your whole smartphone into glasses, similar to what we saw in movies.

Project Glass

There are tons of debate going on about these glasses, and Google has finally responded.

As of today, Google revealed that they are currently in the process of researching and trying to develop a pair of glasses that would allow one to see and carry out tasks that would normally be conducted on smartphones.

Google’s Youtube video for Project Glass is quite hypnotizing in some way. It allows us to see the world completely different, a much more revolutionized world.

The video caused tons of hype, but don’t get carried away by the video clip. The reality is that, based on our technology these days, we are still quite far from there. There are too many factors to consider; how fragile is it, where is the battery located, radiation, just to name a few.

One last point, people are already playing with their smartphones during special events and dinners, instead of socializing with each other. Now imagine we all gather for a dinner and everyone looking through their “glass”. Isn’t that awkward!?

Mercedes Introduces Invisible Minivan.

Guess What! Mercedes just announced an unusual automobile.

It is known as the Mercedes Benz Invisible Car (It is actually a minivan). Why it’s called invisible? The vehicle is 100% eco-friendly, as it guarantees 0.00% emissions.

On one side of the car, it is covered with LEDS, and on the other side of the car, there’s a Canon 5D Mark II DSLR camera. The side that is covered with LEDS would then display the image seen on the other side of the car, which creates an invisible effect.

Out of all hybrid and eco-friendly cars, this one must be the ultimate winner!

DRIVERLESS Cars-Mass production 2018: NO MORE ASIAN DRIVERS!

Many years back then, there’s the auto-parking feature, and it was groundbreaking.
Now, the industry is taking things to a brand new level, DRIVERLESS!

We thought we would only see that kind of technology on tv/movies? Definitely not the case anymore.
Depending on where you are located at, you could possibly see people driving one today, but mass production wise-will arrive around 2018. Thats 6 years from now, which is not too far away if you think about it.

Distracted driving is far too dangerous and shouldn’t be tolerated at all times, but it is what we do. Sometimes we eat, we change radios, we talk on phone/ to passengers, all while driving. It is obvious that these distracted behaviours takes away a lot of lives every year. So now, we finally have found a solution to it!!
