Glenn Mangham is a 26 year old student from UK.
He just received an eight month prison sentence for hacking into Facebook server in 2011′s April and May. He was testified in court, and his defence statement was to exploit the vulnerabilities in the Facebook servers, so that Facebook could improve their security. It turns out, he was not making things up. He previously did the same to Yahoo, and he was rewarded almost $10,000 USD from Yahoo!, therefore he wanted to do the same for Facebook as well. I guess he never expected this reward from Facebook at all.
For this incident, Facebook has spent approximately $200,000 USD, to investigate in this crime. FBI was part of the investigation as well.
On the other hand, the prosecutor for this case, stated that Mangham, “unlawfully accessed and hacked into the social media website Facebook and its computers in April to May last year from his bedroom in Yorkshire”.
Of course, at last he lost.
This time, the reward isn’t rewarding anymore after all…
