Alfie Mazeika is a two year old with an insatiable appetite because his brain is unable to recognize he is full.
He was found eating more than half a three-tier wedding cake by his parents on the day of their friend’s wedding.
The parents of Alfie have to constantly monitor his meals, and even have to place locks on kitchen cupboards, as they fear he would eat himself to death.
Alfie is a child with Prader-Willi Syndrome. Not only does the syndrome confuses the brain when it comes to his appetite, he will have intellectual delay, sleep disorders, and infertility. As Alfie gets older, he will start taking food from other children without realizing that it is wrong.
